Lainey Wilson is making history once again in the country music world, topping the CMA Awards nominations for the second year in a row. This impressive feat is a testament to her rapid rise to stardom, and Wilson has now become the first and only artist to top the nominations list in her first two appearances on the ballot. Last year, she received six nominations, and this year, she’s up to nine, placing her alongside Merle Haggard and Miranda Lambert for scoring nine nominations in one year.

Other notable nominees include first-time nominee Jelly Roll, with five nominations, and Luke Combs and Hardy, with four each. Combs and Hardy have the potential to take home six trophies should they sweep their categories. Combs is a performer and producer on his hit single “Fast Car”, which is nominated for single of the year, and he also performed and co-produced his latest release, “Gettin’ Old”, which is nominated for album of the year. Hardy is also a performer and producer on “Wait In The Truck”, which is nominated in both the single and musical event of the year categories.

The other major categories feature a range of talented artists, including Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen vying for entertainer of the year, while Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” and Jordan Davis’ “Next Thing You Know” are up for song of the year.
The 2023 CMA Awards will air on November 8 on ABC at 8pm Eastern, marking the culmination of a remarkable year for country music and its brightest stars.
