A 23-year-old man, Emiliano Krosi, has been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and appeared at Guildford Crown Court to face 33 counts of the alleged crime. The break-in, which occurred in Oxshott, Leatherhead, targeted the home of England footballer Raheem Sterling, a former Manchester City and current Chelsea star. The incident was reported to Surrey Police on December 3rd last year, during the World Cup in Qatar.

Krosi, who was brought to court from HMP Wandsworth, is accused of being part of a group that planned and carried out the burglary. The case has been adjourned to a plea hearing on November 3rd, after which the two-week trial is scheduled to begin on February 14, 2024. Judge Rufus Taylor has fixed the trial date as a 10-day fixed trial.

In the meantime, Krosi will remain in custody. Prior to the trial, he is expected to appear in court for a further case management hearing on November 3rd. The judge has ordered that Krosi be brought to court from HMP Wandsworth for this hearing.

Sterling, who had been away from home playing in the World Cup, returned to England after learning of the burglary to be with his family. He missed England’s 3-0 win over Senegal on December 4th as a result. The incident sparked widespread support for Sterling on social media, with many fans and pundits, including football legend Gary Lineker, expressing their sympathy and concern for the footballer and his family.

Krosi’s involvement in the alleged burglary has sparked widespread interest and concern in the football community and beyond. The trial will provide an opportunity for Krosi to face the allegations and for the court to determine his guilt or innocence. In the meantime, Sterling and his family will continue to receive support and sympathy from fans and fellow footballers alike.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing the safety and security of public figures, including footballers, and the need for authorities to take swift action to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for such crimes. As the trial approaches, fans and fellow footballers will be eagerly awaiting the outcome and hoping for justice to prevail in this case.
