South Korea’s opposition leader, Lee Jae-myung, got stabbed in the neck while he was visiting the city of Busan. He’s okay and has been taken to a nearby hospital.
A man attacked Lee while they were looking at a place for a new airport. The attacker wore a paper crown with Lee’s name on it. He pretended to ask for an autograph and then suddenly hurt Lee. But the attacker was caught right away.
Videos show the attack happening. Lee fell down after getting hurt. People tried to help him by pressing something against his neck.
The President of South Korea said the attack was wrong and wished Lee a quick recovery.
Lee lost the presidential election in 2022. He’s now facing accusations of taking bribes from a project when he was a mayor. But he says he didn’t do anything wrong.
This is not the first time a South Korean politician got hurt. Lee’s predecessor got attacked in 2022, and another politician got hurt in 2006.
