Patrick Stewart didn’t enjoy his time filming “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
In an interview with the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast on January 4, the 83-year-old actor talked about his experience playing Professor X in the Marvel movie.
“It was alone,” Stewart said. “I think the big scene, each one of the leading actors had the same experience. They were shot on their own. It was frustrating and disappointing but that’s how it has been. The last few years have been challenging.”
In the 2022 sequel, Stewart’s character, Professor X, appears when Dr. Strange meets with the Illuminati, a powerful group. But things go wrong when the Scarlet Witch shows up and kills everyone in the group.
Even though Professor X meets his end in the movie, Stewart isn’t sure if this is the last fans will see of the character. There are talks that he might appear in another Marvel movie, possibly “Deadpool 3.”
“I have every confidence he’s still around,” Stewart said. “The last two or three years have been so difficult with the labor problems and the health problems and Covid.”
“Deadpool 3,” starring Ryan Reynolds, is set to come out in July. It’s the only Marvel movie releasing this year. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is also supposed to be in the film.
“It’s not like adding Hugh Jackman to a movie like this is a hard sell. It’s an immediate and emphatic, unqualified yes,” Reynolds said in an interview. “It’s a lot of moving parts and Fox and X-Men and all that kind of stuff that Marvel needs to sort through. A lot of red tape in order to make that happen. And they did it.”
