Billie Eilish is a winner at the Golden Globes once again. She just turned 22 and won her second Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.
She won alongside her brother, Finneas, who is also her producer and co-writer. They won for the song “What Was I Made For?” from the movie “Barbie.” Billie expressed her surprise at winning, saying, “I was not expecting this in this moment.” She thanked her brother, saying he’s the reason for her success.
Their song beat two other “Barbie” tunes: Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken.” The song also got nominated for Record and Song of the Year at the Grammys.
Billie also thanked the director of “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig, and the star, Margot Robbie. She talked about how writing the song helped her during a difficult time a year ago.
She said, “It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie, and I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time. Writing that song kind of saved me a little bit.” She added, “A year later, and here we are. It’s really surreal. I feel incredibly, incredibly lucky; incredibly lucky and grateful.”
Billie’s appearance at the Golden Globes was her first because the awards were not televised in 2022. She wore red and black hair, glasses, an oversized jacket, and thrift-store Mary Jane shoes. During her speech, she expressed her nervousness among the Hollywood crowd but thanked everyone for their support.
