Ukraine Denies Responsibility for Plane Crash, Responds to Allegations

Ukraine’s military command talked about the plane crash near Belgorod. They said they see Russian military planes coming close to Belgorod as fair game. But they didn’t say they shot at a Russian plane that crashed there.

In their statement, the General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said that recent attacks on Kharkiv are linked to Russian cargo planes bringing weapons near the border. Kharkiv is just 30 kilometers from Russia.

The statement said, “The recorded intensity of the shelling is directly related to the increase in the number of military transport aircraft that have recently been heading to the Belgorod airfield.”

The armed forces of Ukraine said they will keep trying to stop these planes and control the sky to keep people safe. This includes the area between Belgorod and Kharkiv.

On Tuesday morning, Kharkiv was hit by a missile attack, which was one of the deadliest in weeks. Ten people died in the attack, according to emergency response officials.

But Ukraine’s statement didn’t talk about Russia’s claim that the crashed plane was carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war who were going to be exchanged.
