Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused China of colluding with Russia to derail an upcoming peace summit aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
While speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Zelenskyy expressed concern over Russia leveraging Chinese influence to sabotage the Bürgenstock Resort summit in Switzerland on June 15-16.
While he didn’t provide specific examples, Zelenskyy emphasized China’s role in supporting Russia’s agenda.
The urgency of the situation was highlighted by Zelenskyy, who cited Russia’s threats of blockades on exports and high energy prices.
He called for support from Asian nations, emphasizing the importance of their participation in the peace process. Despite the absence of some world leaders, Zelenskyy noted that over 100 nations would send senior-level representatives to the summit.
In his efforts to garner support, Zelenskyy announced meetings with Singaporean leaders and urged their involvement in the summit. He clarified that Ukraine sought political and humanitarian backing from Asian countries rather than military intervention.
Zelenskyy stressed the significance of global involvement in implementing peace agreements and preventing Russian interference.
