The widow of Hunter Biden’s brother, Hallie Biden, took the stand in his federal gun trial, recounting the moment she discovered a revolver in his truck and her subsequent efforts to dispose of it. Hallie Biden’s testimony provided a Look into the tumultuous period of Hunter Biden’s life, marked by a Heavy Crack Addiction, which allegedly drove him to buy the gun despite acknowledging his substance abuse.
According to Hallie Biden’s account, she found the gun and ammunition in the vehicle’s console in October 2018. She described how she panicked and wanted to get rid of the weapon, fearing that Hunter Biden might hurt himself or her children might find it and get hurt. Hallie Biden said she put the gun into a leather pouch, stuffed it into a shopping bag, and tossed it into a rubbish bin outside a nearby market.
Federal prosecutors claim that Hunter Biden purchased the Colt revolver while in the throes of his crack addiction, and that he lied about not being a drug user on the application. The Justice Department has charged him with three felonies, including making a false statement on the application, lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, and illegally possessing the gun for 11 days.
During her testimony, Hallie Biden revealed that she had also found remnants of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in Hunter Biden’s car. She said she considered hiding the gun but thought her children might find it, so she decided to throw it away. Hallie Biden acknowledged that her decision to dispose of the gun was “a stupid idea” and that she was panicked at the time.

The prosecution’s case has focused on highlighting the seriousness of Hunter Biden’s crack addiction and showcasing moments of intoxication and drug use. They argue that the evidence is necessary to show his state of mind when he bought the gun. Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty, with his defense attorney suggesting that his state of mind was different when he wrote his memoir, “Beautiful Things,” which details his struggle with addiction, than when he purchased the gun.
The trial comes as the Biden family is facing intense scrutiny, with some wondering about the toll the proceedings will take on President Joe Biden’s youngest son. If convicted, Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison, although first-time offenders generally receive a much lighter sentence. The trial is set to continue, with the outcome potentially impacting the 2024 presidential election.
