Neal McDonough: Kevin Costner Left ‘Yellowstone’ Due to Scheduling Conflicts, Not Feud

Neal McDonough commented on Kevin Costner’s departure from “Yellowstone,” attributing it primarily to scheduling conflicts rather than any underlying tension between Costner and Taylor Sheridan, the show’s creator.

McDonough, who appeared on “TMZ Live,” acknowledged that Costner’s commitments to his new western film ‘Horizon’ clashed with the production schedule of ‘Yellowstone,’ making it impractical for him to continue in the lead role. This aligns with Costner’s own explanation that scheduling issues forced his exit from the show.

Despite rumors of discord between Costner and Sheridan, McDonough did not explicitly confirm any animosity but hinted that their relationship might not have been entirely smooth.

He spoke positively of Costner’s influence on ‘Yellowstone,’ crediting him with revitalizing interest in Western-themed entertainment. McDonough also expressed admiration for Costner’s acting prowess, placing him among the greatest actors of all time.

Costner recently confirmed via an Instagram post that he would not be returning to ‘Yellowstone,’ a decision that followed earlier indications he might consider reprising his role. This announcement came amid speculation and disappointment among fans, signaling the end of Costner’s tenure as a central figure in the popular series.

In summary, McDonough’s insights suggest that while scheduling conflicts were the primary reason for Costner’s departure, there may have been some underlying complexities in his relationship with Sheridan. Nevertheless, McDonough emphasized Costner’s significant contribution to ‘Yellowstone’ and his impact on the genre while acknowledging that all good things eventually come to an end.
