The INDIA bloc won the majority of the 13 assembly seats that were up for election on Wednesday, securing 10 seats across seven states. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) dominated West Bengal, winning all four seats contested. The Congress party also had significant successes, winning two out of three seats in Himachal Pradesh and both seats in Uttarakhand.

In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured victory in the lone seat up for grabs. A notable win included Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who won a seat in Dehra. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured two seats, one in Himachal Pradesh and another in Madhya Pradesh, while an independent candidate won in Bihar.

The detailed results for each state are as follows: In West Bengal, TMC candidates Krishna Kalyani, Mukut Mani Adhikari, Madhuparna Thaku, and Supti Pandey won the Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala seats respectively.

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress candidates Kamlesh Thakur and Hardeep Singh Bawa won the Dehra and Nalagarh seats, while BJP’s Ashish Sharma won in Hamirpur. In Uttarakhand, Congress candidates Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin and Lakhapat Singh Butola won the Manglaur and Badrinath seats.

In Punjab, AAP’s Mohinder Bhagat emerged victorious in Jalandhar West with over 58% of the vote. This was a significant reversal for the Congress, which fell to third place behind the BJP in this constituency. In Tamil Nadu, DMK candidate Anniyur Siva won the Vikravandi seat. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP candidate Kamlesh Shah won the Amarwada bypoll by a margin of 3,252 votes against Congress candidate Dhiren Shah Inavati.

The final results were that the INDIA bloc won 10 seats, the BJP won 2 seats, and an independent candidate secured 1 seat. Specific highlights include Congress winning by over 5,000 votes in Uttarakhand’s Badrinath and an independent winning by over 8,000 votes in Bihar.

The election faced some challenges, such as EVM malfunctions during the Amarwada counting in Madhya Pradesh, but the final results solidified the INDIA bloc’s strong performance across the contested states.
