Brigitte Macron, the French First Lady, is set to make a special appearance as herself in the upcoming episodes of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, which will be released on Thursday. She will appear in her own attire, with no specific wardrobe directions from the show, which is known for its fashion-forward style, as reported by Elle magazine.

Darren Star, the creator of the series, has commended Macron for her “great talent.” The idea for her cameo took root in 2022, following a meeting between Lily Collins, the series lead, and Star at the Élysée Palace in December of that year.

Collins revealed that Macron, who is a devoted fan of the show, responded with humor to her mention in the first season. Her cameo in the fourth season is intended as a lighthearted nod to her and working with her was described as both an honor and a pleasure.

This isn’t Macron’s first on-screen appearance as herself. In 2018, she appeared in Vestiaires, a French comedy series about two disabled swimmers. Additionally, a six-part biopic titled Brigitte, une femme libre (Brigitte, a Free Woman) featuring her is currently in production.

The second half of Emily in Paris’ fourth season will be available on Netflix starting Thursday. Since its launch in 2020, the show has attracted significant viewership, with the first part of season four garnering nearly 20 million views. Despite its popularity and frequent top 10 placements on Netflix, the series has faced criticism in France for its exaggerated and clichéd depiction of Parisian life.
