In a bold move, the Israeli military has reported capturing a senior Hezbollah operative during a special forces raid in northern Lebanon. This operation was carried out by Israel’s elite Shayetet 13 unit, known for its high-stakes missions across enemy lines.

The commandos reportedly landed near Batroun, a coastal town in Lebanon, seized the Hezbollah member, and transported him back to Israeli territory. The captive is now being interrogated by Israel’s Unit 504, a specialized IDF intelligence division, as confirmed by an Israeli military official.

Eyewitness accounts in Lebanon provided further details of the raid, which took place at dawn. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), witnesses saw a “military force” conduct a landing on Batroun beach and approach a nearby chalet, where they apprehended a man identified as Imad Amhaz. Reports indicate that the operatives quickly took him to the shore and left with him by speedboat.

The Lebanese government is now investigating the incident, calling it an unprecedented act of aggression on Lebanese soil. Hezbollah issued a brief statement condemning the “Zionist aggression” but did not elaborate on details.

This operation highlights the increasing military tension between Israel and Hezbollah, as clashes and airstrikes along the Israel-Lebanon border continue. In recent days, Israel has launched several airstrikes in southern Lebanon, with reports that at least three of these strikes hit areas near Hiram Hospital in Tyre, causing damage to the hospital courtyard.

A recent CNN analysis raised concerns about Israel’s airstrikes being in dangerously close proximity to Lebanese hospitals, potentially putting critical civilian infrastructure at risk.

These developments come amid ongoing hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, with recent attacks on Israeli territory. On September 23, Hezbollah reportedly targeted an Israeli naval base that hosts Shayetet 13 commandos.

Although Hezbollah claimed responsibility, the IDF confirmed no injuries but did not comment on the alleged damage. The reported attack by Hezbollah on a key Israeli military base illustrates the level of threat Israel perceives from its northern neighbor, especially from Hezbollah’s increasing military capabilities.

The IDF, however, appears undeterred, with a military official stating that Israel will continue to take necessary actions to safeguard its territory and citizens. This stance suggests Israel is prepared for further escalations, as cross-border operations against Hezbollah may intensify.

Both Israel’s actions in capturing high-profile Hezbollah operatives and Hezbollah’s own attacks indicate a volatile dynamic, with each side aiming to demonstrate strength in a tense and escalating conflict.
