Donald Trump’s Golf Resort in Scotland Vandalized By Pro-Palestine Protesters

Donald Trump's Golf Resort in Scotland Vandalized

President Donald Trump’s renowned Turnberry golf resort in Scotland was vandalized overnight on Friday by pro-Palestine activists, who also dug holes into one of the course’s fairways.

Drone footage captured the aftermath, revealing the resort’s clubhouse splattered with red paint. Additionally, the phrase “Gaza Is Not For Sale” was painted in giant white letters on an area adjacent to a green.

Further damage was inflicted at the resort’s entrance, where a lamppost was vandalized, and graffiti reading “Free Gaza” and “Free Palestine” was spray-painted onto the entrance wall.

The activist group Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the vandalism, citing Trump’s proposed plans for Gaza, which could lead to the displacement of millions of Palestinians.

“To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance,” the group stated.

Trump recently faced intense criticism after suggesting, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that the U.S. should take control of Gaza.

His controversial proposal involved relocating Palestinians and transforming the region into what he described as the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Trump’s Turnberry golf course and hotel, situated in southwest Scotland, features three courses—two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course. The venue has hosted four Open Championships in the past; however, it has not staged the event since Trump acquired the course in 2014 and undertook renovations.

A police officer was seen inspecting the damage following the pro-Palestinian protest at Turnberry on March 8, 2025. At present, authorities have not confirmed which specific course was vandalized.

The resort’s signature course, the Alisa Course, is named after Ailsa Craig, an uninhabited volcanic island that is approximately half a billion years old and located off the coast of the property. The course consistently ranks among the top 10 golf courses in the world.

“Yesterday, it was ranked #3 golf course in Europe. Today, it’s shut,” Palestine Action posted on X.

Turnberry is one of two golf resorts Trump operates in Scotland through the Trump Organization, with the other being Trump International Scotland in Aberdeen. The former president, an avid golfer, has familial ties to Scotland through his mother.

Scottish police have launched an investigation into the incident. “Around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, 8 March, 2025, we received a report of damage to the golf course and a premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry,” a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed, adding that inquiries were ongoing.

Separately on Saturday, a man waving a Palestinian flag climbed Elizabeth Tower, commonly known as Big Ben, at London’s Palace of Westminster.
