A rare ‘DD 5’ car number plate was sold for an astounding AED35 million (approximately US$9.5 million or ₦14.4 billion) during the ‘Most Noble Number’ charity auction held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The highly sought-after ‘DD 5’ plate was secured by Muhammad BinGhatti, chairman of Binghatti Holding. It was one of five premium car plate numbers that collectively fetched Dh75.9 million during the auction, which was organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in partnership with Emirates Auction.
The price paid for this exclusive number plate is equivalent to the cost of three Bugatti Chiron hypercars, which were showcased at the event. The limited-edition vehicle, now completely sold out, has a starting price of $3.1 million, excluding destination fees and local taxes.

DD5 Valued At $9.5 Million
Other distinctive RTA plate numbers that were auctioned off included ‘DD 12’ for Dh12.8 million, ‘DD 77’ for Dh12.6 million, and ‘DD 15’ for Dh9.2 million. The latter was also purchased by BinGhatti, bringing his total bids to Dh44.2 million.
All proceeds from the auction will be directed toward the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, which is dedicated to funding healthcare initiatives in underserved communities.
This prestigious event has previously witnessed record-breaking bids, including the sale of the ‘P7’ plate for an astonishing Dh55 million (US$15 million) in 2023. Additionally, in 2022, a rare ‘AA8’ number plate was purchased for AED35 million (about US$9.5 million).
