The annual spring Food Truck Festival in downtown Aurora is returning on Friday at 5 p.m. This four-hour event will take place along Benton Street, stretching from River to Broadway. Event organizers expect to offer a wide array of food and drink options, with approximately three dozen food trucks showcasing various cuisines for attendees to enjoy.

From Humble Beginnings to Major Event: Expanding Aurora’s Food Truck Festival Experience

Originally launched in 2016 by the former Aurora Downtown group, the Food Truck Festival has grown significantly over the years. Now organized by the City of Aurora’s Special Events Division, the festival has expanded to include a fall edition as well. With a diverse range of local vendors participating, the event has become a staple in the city’s event calendar.

This year’s festival will feature 36 food trucks, one of the largest lineups to date. Christina DiCristofano, the event coordinator, highlighted that the vendors include a mix of returning favorites and new businesses, with a strong focus on supporting local enterprises. The city’s social media has already shared the full list of participating trucks, ensuring that festival-goers have a clear idea of what to expect.

Fostering Community, Supporting Local Business, and Offering a Diverse Food Experience

The event is designed to not only provide great food but also to foster a sense of community in Aurora. DiCristofano emphasized that the festival gives local businesses valuable exposure while encouraging residents and visitors to explore the city’s downtown area. It’s an opportunity for people to enjoy a fun, positive atmosphere while sampling a wide variety of delicious food options.

The festival is expected to attract between 4,000 and 5,000 attendees, depending on the weather and vendor availability. Last year’s fall event drew a similar crowd, and organizers are hopeful for a similar turnout this time. Food offerings will include a diverse selection such as barbecue, tacos, pizza, pierogis, funnel cakes, bakery treats, and more, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
