"First Snow" Challenge Goes Viral 10 Years After EXO's Beloved Holiday Song Release

EXO’s heartwarming track “First Snow,” from their 2013 winter album “Miracle in December,” has once again captured the hearts of fans. The song, known for its gentle melodies and emotive vocals, vividly paints a picture of longing set against a wintry backdrop marked by the year’s first snowfall.

Traditionally, “First Snow” resurfaces on music charts with the season’s first snowfall. However, this year, Korean listeners began revisiting the cherished melody even before the snow arrived, as the early winter chill set in.

The “First Snow” challenge gained momentum when Hwang Sehun uploaded a video of himself dancing to the song while snowflakes gently fell. His choreography quickly went viral, inspiring numerous K-pop idols and fans to join in.

Notable participants in the challenge include ITZY’s Yuna, KEP1ER’s Dayeon and Chaehyun, AESPA’s Karina and Giselle, ATEEZ’s Seonghwa, San, Wooyoung, and Jongho, NCT Dream, and Billlie. These artists shared their dance videos on TikTok, propelling the “First Snow” soundtrack to new heights, with its usage surpassing 106,000 times on the platform.

EXO’s Sehun and Lay also joined the challenge, with their videos garnering over 20 million views and receiving immense love from EXOLs. Other EXO members have hinted that they will also participate, promising to dance together soon.

Currently, “First Snow” is ranked 2nd on Melon’s Hot 100 chart, marking a remarkable resurgence of the beloved holiday favorite.
