The Internet Is Asking Iran to Rename Their Operation to ‘Operation: Epstein Files’

The internet has decided it’s time to do what it does best: rebrand geopolitics.

After Iran announced the name of its latest military operation, one of those ultra-dramatic, very serious sounding names like Operation Something Something Wrath of Destiny, people online immediately came to the same conclusion: the branding could use work.

Within minutes, Reddit threads and X posts started suggesting a new name.

“Operation: Epstein Files.”

And honestly, the internet seems pretty confident it nailed it.

The joke basically writes itself. For the past year or so, every time the Epstein files come up, whether it’s partial document releases, redacted court records, or another round of “this list might be coming soon”, the internet collectively goes into detective mode.

Everyone suddenly becomes a part-time investigator with screenshots, theories, and a 14-tweet thread explaining how everything is secretly connected.

So when any major world event happens, someone inevitably posts the same comment: “Nice distraction, but where are the Epstein files?”

It’s become a meme at this point. New political scandal? Epstein files. Random billionaire trending? Epstein files. A weather balloon floats over Ohio? Obviously a cover story for the Epstein files.

Naturally, when a military operation with a dramatic name gets announced, the internet immediately decides it must somehow be related.

One Reddit comment summed up the mood perfectly:

“At this point just call every global event Operation Epstein Files so we can stop pretending.”

Another user suggested a full cinematic rollout: announce Operation Epstein Files, release three mysterious binders with half the pages blacked out, and then let TikTok detectives spend the next six months trying to decode it like it’s the Da Vinci Code.

Of course, none of this is remotely serious. It’s just the internet doing its thing, taking extremely complicated geopolitical events and filtering them through memes, sarcasm, and a general sense that everything is slightly ridiculous.

Still, the suggestion has gained surprising traction online. Every time someone posts the actual operation name, the replies fill up with variations of: “You mean Operation Epstein Files?”

At this rate, it might not become the official name, but it’s probably the one the internet will remember.

Because if there’s one rule about online culture, it’s this: once Reddit renames something, that’s the name now.
