A devastating accident involving four armored military vehicles occurred on a Bavarian highway, resulting in the injuries of seven soldiers. The incident occurred on Monday when the vehicles, reportedly belonging to the US military, crashed into each other on the A6 highway while on manoeuvre duty. According to initial findings, the collision, which occurred around 10:55 am local time, left seven soldiers injured, with two of them being airlifted to hospital via rescue helicopter.
German police were quick to respond to the incident, with Amberg police releasing a statement detailing the events leading up to the crash. According to Tobias Mattes, a spokesperson for the police, the accident occurred due to still unknown reasons and resulted in the injured soldiers being taken to hospital. Mattes also confirmed that one of the soldiers was in a serious condition.
The crash occurred on the stretch of highway between the Sulzbach-Rosenberg and Amberg-West junctions, in the direction towards the Czech Republic. The highway remained blocked until the late afternoon, causing significant disruptions to traffic.
