This situation casts uncertainty over whether India will travel to Pakistan to compete in the tournament, where they are scheduled to be in the same group as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. The match between India and Pakistan is highly anticipated, with a tentative date set for March 1.

In light of the uncertainties, the ICC has prepared contingency plans. They have reportedly sanctioned a budget of around 65 million dollars to cover the potential costs of hosting matches outside Pakistan if India refuses to play there.
This decision was discussed and approved during the ICC’s recent AGM in Colombo, highlighting the significant financial and logistical considerations involved in ensuring the tournament proceeds smoothly.
Further preparations include the planning and inspection of match venues in Pakistan. A significant amount of renovation is underway at all three proposed venues to upgrade facilities in time for the tournament. This includes ensuring that the venues meet international standards and can accommodate the needs of all participating teams and officials.
According to the draft schedule, India’s matches are slated to be held in Lahore. Apart from the high-profile clash against Pakistan, India is scheduled to face Bangladesh on February 20 and New Zealand on February 23. These details underscore the ICC’s commitment to a well-organized tournament despite the geopolitical challenges, aiming to provide a seamless experience for teams and fans alike.
