An Israeli airstrike on Monday targeted a Hezbollah arms depot in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley, resulting in injuries to eight people, including Lebanese citizens and Syrian children. The Israeli military reported that multiple weapons storage facilities were struck, leading to secondary explosions that indicated a large cache of weaponry.
Earlier, Israeli strikes targeted Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, specifically members of the group’s Rocket and Missile Unit. In response to the depot strike, Lebanon’s Agricultural Scientific Research Authority closed its research stations in the Beqaa region due to the threat of unexploded missiles nearby.
This attack is part of an ongoing escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, which began after Hezbollah declared support for Palestinians following the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. The conflict has led to significant casualties in Lebanon, with over 620 people killed, including many Hezbollah fighters and civilians.
The broader conflict, involving regular exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah, has heightened tensions in the region, further exacerbating the already volatile situation in Lebanon and surrounding areas.
