Ukraine Targets Key Oil Terminal in Crimea, Disrupting Russia’s War Supply Chain

Ukraine Targets Key Oil Terminal in Crimea, Disrupting Russia’s War Supply Chain

Ukraine’s military struck a significant oil terminal in the Russian-occupied city of Feodosia, Crimea, disrupting a key fuel supply for Russia’s war efforts. The strike is part of Ukraine’s ongoing campaign to degrade Russia’s military infrastructure, particularly in areas far from the front lines. Russian authorities confirmed a fire at the terminal but did not comment on the cause.

This attack highlights the broader struggle both sides face in sustaining a costly, prolonged conflict that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, now entering its third year with no clear resolution in sight.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted critical infrastructure, such as oil depots and refineries, using long-range drones. The goal is to weaken Russia’s ability to supply its front-line forces, particularly in the Donetsk region, where the bulk of the fighting is concentrated.

Russia, meanwhile, reported new territorial gains in Donetsk, capturing the village of Hrodivka as it moves toward the key logistics hub of Pokrovsk. Ukraine’s recent withdrawal from Vuhledar handed Russia a rare battlefield victory, further complicating Kyiv’s efforts to hold the line in the east.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the war has entered a critical phase, with Ukraine under increasing pressure to defend its positions in the east while also holding newly captured territory in Russia’s Kursk border region.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine must continue applying pressure on Russia, aiming to force Moscow to recognize that the war offers no gains. He emphasized that maintaining strength is essential to bringing the conflict closer to a peaceful resolution.

At the same time, Russian missile strikes continued to hit Ukrainian civilian areas. In the Sumy region, two brothers were killed by overnight strikes, and a 61-year-old woman was killed in Kherson. In Zaporizhia, which Russia claims to have annexed, three people were injured in attacks on infrastructure.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted two hypersonic Kinzhal missiles over Kyiv, but one missile exploded near an airfield in the Khmelnytskyi region, with debris falling close to a kindergarten.

In a separate escalation, a Russian missile struck a civilian ship in Odesa’s port, killing a Ukrainian worker and injuring several foreign nationals. This is the second such attack on civilian vessels in the region within a few days, raising concerns about the safety of commercial and civilian operations in Odesa.

The incident further illustrates the growing impact of the war on non-military targets, as the conflict continues to affect critical infrastructure and civilian lives across Ukraine.
