The short film plot suggests that Lord Rayden handpicks three martial artists, including the federal agent Sonya Blade, Shaolin monk Lui Kang, and performance movie sensation Johnny Cage, and guides them personally. After intensive training, Rayden transports the trio to Outworld, the site of an inter-dimensional fight tournament. There, the three humans must defeat the demonic knights of the evil Shang Sung; Otherwise, the Sung will take over the Earth.

This is not advisable as the Sungs are evil and will dominate earth; Whereas, if the trio wins, they will not rule the Earth. They will just simply look after it and take care of it. Sungs are very much powerful and are playing corrupted games to win the earth; On the other hand, the trio understands their dirty games but never tries the same dirty tactics as they were not trained to play it the other way round.
