Duff McKagan: An Iconic Bassist

Guns N’ Roses‘ popularity paved the way for Duff McKagan’s achievement as the band reached legendary importance in rock music, but the accusations of substance abuse persisted. He reportedly disbanded from Guns N’ Roses in 1997. Rose was the only person in charge, according to Duff, and the band was becoming a dictatorship.
In addition to performing as the main vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the still-active hard rock band Loaded, McKagan also reformed his Seattle punk band 10 Minute Warning.
He and a few of his former Guns N’ Roses bandmates created the supergroup, Velvet Revolver in the early 2000s.
When Velvet Revolver took off for the music tour, he had to take a hiatus from the business school to go on tour.
Later in 2010, after joining Jane’s Addiction, he was interviewed by Seattle Weekly, in which he said he has the utmost respect for the bandmates and is looking forward to working with them on different music upon asking about his expectations.
Beyond music, he pursued his career in acting and writing as he was featured in the film The Dead Pool in 1988. Meanwhile, he wrote weekly columns in the magazines of Playboy.com and ESPN.com.
It’s said that the former Guns N’ Roses bassist also decided to invest in some local companies, which are Starbucks, Microsoft, and Amazon.

On October 4, 2011, Duff McKagan published an autobiography with the working title It’s So Easy (The Other Lies). His second book, How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions), was published on May 12th, 2015, after 4 years.
Duff McKagan is still an inspiration and legend in the genre of rock music.
