2023 Complaint Against the Tuohy Family
The fundamental plot of “The Blind Side” was allegedly a fiction “concocted” by the family to benefit themselves at his expense; according to a bombshell petition Michael filed to a Tennessee court on August 14, 2023, it was discovered.
The petition demanded that Sean and Leigh Anne be released from their conservatorship, that he receive his fair portion of the movie’s earnings and compensatory and punitive damages, and that the couple refrain from using his name in any future endeavors.
Michael’s petition included several alarming allegations, including the assertion that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy never officially adopted him and instead placed him under a conservatorship.
This is significant because, while under conservatorship, he was not related to the Tuohy family. The family could allegedly sign contracts in his name without paying him a share of the royalties from the movie and other works of art that bear his name and likeness.
According to the petition, the family agreed that Sean Sr., Collins, and both parents received $225,000 in addition to 2.5% of “defined net proceeds” from “The Blind Side”‘s box office, DVD, and streaming sales.
