Season 1 Recap:
Season 1 of Kung Fu ends with a scene where Evan comes to help heal the wounds of injured Nicky and brings her to his place to recover. Meanwhile, she begins to question her destiny and decides to give up learning the truth about Pei-Ling. After being told to rest by Ryan, Nicky doesn’t obey that request when Henry explains to her about his friend, whose sister has become a disciple of a violent martial arts instructor against her will. With the help of Althea, Ryan, Evan, and Henry, Nicky invades the studio and tries to know everything about it, challenging the instructor by starting to learn his techniques. When it comes to light that the instructor is also involved in all this and making money by secretly making live streams of his fights with his students illegally, they come up with a master plan and apply mastermind ideas to expose his activities. Nicky and the instructor agree to a battle, which is aggravated by Pei-Ling’s spirit, which leads Nicky to defeat him and make his arrest by Evan
Unfortunately, Mei-Li watches the live stream and confronts Nicky, revealing the truth to Nicky that she is a descendant of Liang Daiyu and was chosen to be the successor, but tried to steer Nicky away from fulfilling that destiny out of fear that others would find out. Nicky gets upset with her mother as she hides the truth and leaves the house. Meanwhile, in the flashback behind Pei-Ling, it comes out that Pei-Ling killed their father by accident and the events that led up to the falling out between the sisters. This was all about past events, In the present scenario, Zhilan confronts her uncle about the weapons that were kept in a hidden and unreachable place, then kills him. Zhilan then tracked down a familiar contact in her pursuit.
What To Expect From Kung Fu Season 2?
Season one ended with the mystical weapons quest, with Nicky sending the energy back into the earth. Does she develop some new powers following that battle? is to be known in this season. It’s hard to say as of now, but Nicky has undoubtedly been changed somehow. Zhilan is also jailed in prison, but that doesn’t mean she’s out of the picture for good.
So what do the repercussions of all this mean for season two? Chatting to Entertainment Tonight, Olivia Liang says in an interview this about the show’s future:
Because of that, the mythology and the magic have also entered San Francisco, where her family lives. I think that we can expect to see the Shens, being a part of this bloodline, become much more involved in what Nicky’s doing – even more so than they already were. ” Maybe Baba and Mama can get involved. I’m not sure, but that’s kind of what I hope will happen. ”
Olivia also had some plans for where she would like season two to go next. “This is just me putting it out there, but I would love for Nicky to meet even more guardians the way that she met Simon, and she knows Pei-Ling. It’d be cool to meet more guardians if they all assembled and were like, ‘It’s in San Francisco, we got to help.” She said, “I’m speculating now” Moreover, it looks like Nicky and Henry will hopefully develop their relationship outside of the library more moving forward and get to know each other in-depth. Finally, they can stop their research on ancient texts and go on a few real romantic dates for once. This means we’re more likely to see more of Henry’s personal life and love interest in season two. A real strength of this show lies in how well it balances the ensemble cast, so things will also continue to evolve following Ryan’s breakup and Althea’s NDA issue from the concluding scene of season one.
