Sherlock Holmes Season 5 Would be a Bad Idea – Season 1 to 4 Breakdown
Sherlock Holmes is a British crime television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. The show had four seasons with three episodes each; Besides the third season, it includes four episodes. The series started in 2010 and marked its ending in the year 2017. At the same time, we can expect season 5 pretty soon.
First season 2010
The first season narrates the tragic tale of a doctor who came back home from a war in Afghanistan, named Doctor John Watson. Watson becomes flatmates with the world’s best consulting private detective Sherlock Holmes. Besides being two different personalities, their friendship is forged within a day, and several murders are solved.
The first episode of the season was called A Study In Pink.
The episode’s plot includes War vet Dr. John Watson returns to London in need of a place to stay. He meets Sherlock Holmes, a consulting detective, and the two soon find themselves digging into a string of serial “suicides.” The episode marked its ending by Watson saving Sherlock’s life while he was investigating the suspect. The end of the episode witnessed the beginning of a new friendship.
The second episode of the season is the Blind Banker.
The episode’s plot includes Mysterious symbols and murder sequences. Leading Sherlock and John to a secret Chinese crime syndicate called Black Lotus. In the episode, a Chinese girl lost her life due to gambling.
Whereas, the episode marks it’s ending with some problems in Sherlock and John’s friendship. Also, it features the romantic onscreen chemistry of John and Mary.
The third and final episode of the season is The Great Game.
The episode’s plot includes Sherlock’s elder brother Mycroft Holmes. Who needs Sherlock’s help? A remorseless criminal mastermind named Jim Moryaty hates Sherlock for doing his job.
Whereas Jim has other plans for Sherlock. He implants a series of hostage human bombs for Sherlock to test his wits. The episode marks it’s ending with an emotional note where both Watson and Sherlock were ready to sacrifice themselves for each other.
Second Season 2012
The second season of the show is the plot an extinction of the first season.
The first episode of the second season is A Scandal In Belgravia. The episode’s plot includes Sherlock’s interaction with a mysterious woman named Irene Adler. The episode consists of some impressive brainstorming observation techniques.
Although Sherlock seems to hate women, he addresses Irene Adler as The Lady; That signifies that he respects her. A dialogue that got recognition in the Oscars from this episode is “Sentiments are the chemical reaction found on the losing side.” The episode was released on 6th May 2012.
The second episode of the second season is The Hounds Of Baskerville.
The episode’s plot includes Sherlock and Watson investigating the phantom for a young boy who has been seeing dreadful hounds out in the woods where his father died. The episodes also witnessed the importance of facing fears. Whereas everyone hallucinated for two straight days, Jim adulterated the soil with a drug that makes a person’s face it’s worst fear.

The third episode of the second season is The Reichenbach Fall. The episode’s plot gave a tough time to Sherlock. Somehow Jim Moriarty hatches a mad scheme to turn the whole city against Sherlock.
Whereas Watson and Sherlock’s landlady always trusts him. The episode marks its ending on a very emotional note, as Sherlock gets overwhelmed by Watson’s trust in him, and Sherlock thanked Watson for trusting him, which is very unlikely on Sherlock’s part.

Sherlock Holmes Third Season – 2014
The Third season takes an interesting turn in the Sherlock Holmes saga.
The first episode of the third season is Many Happy Returns. The episode’s plot suggests that Sherlock is dead in a terrorist bombing. Watson seemed to be very distressed due to Sherlock’s demise. Whereas Anderson never believed that Sherlock is gone, and the episode marks its ending by Sherlock’s unexpected entry. Besides, knowing that Sherlock tends to play such games, Watson seemed to be happy and pissed at the same time.
Also, the episode was released on 19th January 2014. The second episode of the third season is The Empty Hearse. The episode’s plot suggests that Mycroft needs Sherlock’s help to track down a terrorist organization. The member of the organization seems to be working in London City. Meanwhile, Sherlock was becoming famous and was getting a lot of media coverage. However, private detectives are supposed to lay low and low key. The episode was released on 19th January 2014.
The third episode of the third season is The Sign Of Three.
The episode is considered the most emotional episode of the season as it witnessed John’s wedding. Sherlock is John’s best man; However, Sherlock never believed in emotions, but the episode noticed Sherlock being vulnerable.
Sherlock gives his best man speech by stating that He never thought he would be someone’s best man because he found himself worthy enough to be someone’s friend. While delivering his speech, he observes some restless activities going on around him, and he predicts that a murder is about to take place. As the name suggests, the couple of Sherlock and Watson is joined by a third person Mary; Making it an amazing, exciting trio.

The fourth episode of the third season is His Last Vow.
The episode’s plot suggests that Sherlock challenges Charles Augustus Magnussen, a media tycoon and a notorious blackmailer. This is a bonus episode for the season. As the BBC announced, they will be launching the best three stories in each series. Whereas, His Last Vow is one of the masterpieces without which no Sherlock Holmes series is completed.
The episode was released on 2nd February 2014.
The third season includes the most emotional sequences of the Sherlock Holmes series. Besides his sexist perceptions and opinions, Sherlock welcomes Mary with open arms to be the wedded wife of doctor John Watson.
Sherlock Holmes Fourth Season – 2017
The fourth season is a plot Extention to the preexisting Sherlock Holmes series.
The first episode of The fourth season of Sherlock Holmes is The Abominable Bribe. The plot of the episode includes a Christmas celebration where Watson and Sherlock were invited. However, both of them are unaware of the intentions behind this Christmas celebration. As the name of the episode suggests, it might be a trap for Sherlock, but let’s wait for the twist because Sherlock knows everything.
The episode marks it’s ending with some disturbance in John’s married life. At the same time, no one can resist Watson’s charm. The episode was released on 1st January 2016.
The second episode of the fourth season of Sherlock Holmes is The Six Thatcher. The episode’s plot includes Sherlock working on a case of finding out who is going around and smashing six unique head statues of late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The episode came out one year later than the previous episode due to some internal issues. However, the wait was worth it as the episode was mind-blowing. The episode was released on 1st January 2017.
The third episode, which was supposed to be the final episode. But, because of the delayed second episode, the BBC had to release the fourth episode. The episode is called The Lying Detective.
The episode’s plot narrates Sherlock’s bravery by going up against the powerful and seemingly unassailable Culverton Smith. Smith is a man with a very dark secret, indeed. The episode was released on 8th January 2017.
The fourth and final episode of the season is The Final Problem. The episode’s plot revolves around the Holmes family’s dark secret. Rearing its head with a vengeance, putting Sherlock and friends through a series of sick fatal games. The episode was released on 15th January 2017.
The above-mentioned episodes were the 14 episodes of the Sherlock Holmes series. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock’s role with Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson; Mark Gaits as Mycroft Holmes with Andrew Scott as Jim.
It’s been three years since the last Sherlock series was released. Even though there is no official announcement, the 5th season of Sherlock Holmes is expected to release soon.
