Knicks’ Miles McBride Back in Action After Contract Extension

Miles McBride is happy about his new contract and the chance to play more.

He signed a three-year contract worth $13 million after the Knicks traded for OG Anunoby from Toronto. McBride played in Monday’s game against the Timberwolves after getting the contract extension.

“I didn’t expect it to happen so soon, but they talked to me and my agents and showed their belief in me,” McBride said about the contract. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and their belief in me. It was sudden, but I’m glad we got it done. It shows that my hard work paid off, and they noticed it.”

McBride didn’t score any points in Monday’s game, but he’ll be the main backup for point guard Jalen Brunson since Immanuel Quickley was traded to Toronto with RJ Barrett.

“Quickley and Barrett were great teammates, and they helped me a lot. It’s sad to see them go, but I want to make the most of this opportunity,” McBride said.

Anunoby’s contract ends after this season, but he’s not worried about it right now.

“I take things day by day. I let my agents handle my contract,” Anunoby said. “I’m just happy to be here.”

Malachi Flynn, another player from the trade, didn’t play because of an ankle injury.

Jericho Sims also didn’t play in the last two games, even though he’s been cleared to play. He had a sprained ankle and missed the previous six games.
