At the 2024 Golden Globes, host Jo Koy made a joke about Robert De Niro’s big family, but De Niro didn’t seem bothered by it.

De Niro, who is 80 years old, had his seventh child, daughter Gia, with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen, who is 45, in April.

During the show, Jo Koy, who says he’s a huge fan of De Niro, looked at him and said, “This guy’s amazing decade after decade. He just kills it every single time. I don’t know how you do it. Man. I swear to God, your last performance is going to be your greatest performance ever.”

Then came the punchline: “How’d you get her pregnant at 80? CGI?”

De Niro chuckled at the joke.

Afterwards, some fans defended De Niro on social media, while others criticized Koy’s joke.

De Niro was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” but he didn’t win. He has won two Golden Globes in the past.

In an interview in October, De Niro talked about fatherhood and praised Chen for doing most of the work in raising their daughter. He said that having a baby at his age is different from raising his older children and grandchildren, but he enjoys it all the same.

De Niro has children from previous relationships, including with his first wife Diahnne Abbott, model and actress Toukie Smith, and his second wife Grace Hightower.
