Willem Dafoe, a renowned actor, became the first celebrity to earn the Hollywood Walk of Fame recognition in 2024.
The ceremony took place in California, attended by Dafoe’s wife, Giada Colagrande, alongside friends and former co-stars such as Pedro Pascal, Patricia Arquette, Mark Ruffalo, and Camila Morrone.
Expressing gratitude in his speech, Dafoe acknowledged the artistic community for its role in fostering connection and understanding through storytelling, particularly in today’s technology-driven and divisive society.
He also thanked his wife for teaching him the value of gratitude and humility.
Dafoe and Colagrande have collaborated on four films together. At the event, Pedro Pascal and Patricia Arquette praised Dafoe’s talent and empathy, with Pascal describing him as “the greatest American actor of our lifetime.”
Dafoe’s versatility as an actor is evident in his portrayal of diverse characters, from a lighthouse keeper to Vincent van Gogh.
He has garnered four Oscar nominations, one for Best Actor for his portrayal of Van Gogh and three for best-supporting actor. His recent role as a rebel scientist in Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Poor Things’ adds to his impressive repertoire.
