LOONA Subunits Score Legal Win: Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsol & Choerry Free from Blockberry Contracts

A New Chapter for Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsol & Choerry.

In a significant development for LOONA, four members have successfully terminated their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative. On June 21st, the Seoul Northern District Court ruled in favour of Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsol, and Choerry in their lawsuit against their former agency.

This lawsuit, filed in March 2023, initially went unanswered by Blockberry Creative. However, the agency eventually responded, leading to court hearings that began in December 2023.

This legal victory comes after the four members previously secured a temporary injunction suspending the enforcement of their contracts, allowing them to pursue other activities freely. They have since established themselves at a new agency, Modhaus, and debuted as the group Artemis alongside former LOONA member Haesol.

LOONA Subunits are finally free from Blockberry’s torment.

LOONA’s journey has been a turbulent one. Debuting as a 12-member group in 2018, they faced internal conflict last year when member Chuu contested financial settlements with Blockberry Creative. This dispute triggered legal actions from other members seeking contract suspensions, ultimately leading to a practical disbandment.

Chuu has also seen legal success, winning both the initial and appellate court battles against Blockberry to dissolve her contract. However, the agency appealed to the Supreme Court, and a final decision is still pending.

This legal win marks a new chapter for Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsol, and Choerry. As they move forward with Artemis, fans eagerly await further developments for LOONA’s remaining members.
