South Korean actor Byun Woo Seok is basking in the unexpected success of his drama “Lovely Runner.” During a press conference in Manila ahead of his sold-out “Summer Letter” fan meeting, Woo Seok spoke candidly about his newfound fame, his favourite drama scenes, and his hopes for future projects.
Thrilled to be in Manila for the first time, Woo Seok is embracing the opportunity to experience new cultures. He admits to still being surprised by his sudden popularity, especially the crowd that greeted him at the airport. “Doing a press conference is already a dream come true for me,” he shared.
“Lovely Runner” marked Woo Seok’s first lead role, and he readily connected with his character, Ryu Sun Jae. While he didn’t anticipate the drama’s international recognition, he’s enjoying the ride. He fondly remembers filming the series and hopes viewers share his enthusiasm.
Woo Seok revealed his top 3 favourite scenes: his confession to Im Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon), the scene where he hides his pain from his dad, and the moment Sun Jae tells Sol, “It’s okay if I die as long as you like me.”
Building chemistry with co-stars is no secret for Woo Seok. He emphasizes the importance of shared passion for the project and working with talented actresses. For new fans, he recommends “Strong Girl Nam Soon” and “20th Century Girl,” but admits all his projects hold a special place in his heart.
Looking ahead, Woo Seok is open to new roles but would love to do another rom-com. He promises an upcoming project in a few months and asks fans to stay tuned.
Woo Seok’s message to his fans is heartfelt. He wants them to cherish the memories made at the fan meeting and expresses gratitude for the overwhelming love for Sun Jae. “Let’s have a good time together,” he concludes. “Thank you so much for your great support and love.”
