Actress Hwang Jung Eum Faces Lawsuit After Publicly Accusing Wrong Woman

South Korean actress Hwang Jung Eum is embroiled in a legal battle after she mistakenly accused a woman of having an affair with her husband.

According to media reports on June 22nd, the woman filed a defamation lawsuit against Hwang Jung Eum. The lawsuit stems from a social media post where Hwang Jung Eum publicly identified the woman as her husband’s mistress. This resulted in the woman being bombarded with online harassment and hateful messages from Hwang Jung Eum’s fans.

Actress Hwang Jung Eum accused a woman months ago as her husband’s mistress.

The crux of the lawsuit appears to be the terms of a settlement offered by Hwang Jung Eum’s side. The woman claims the settlement initially involved Hwang Jung Eum acknowledging the defamation and financial compensation. However, the final offer reportedly reduced the compensation amount and included a clause penalizing the woman if she spoke about the incident.

The woman alleges Hwang Jung Eum’s actions implied she was a gold-digger seeking a hefty payout. This, coupled with the reduced settlement offer, prompted her to file the lawsuit.

Hwang Jung Eum recently appeared in the K-drama “The Escape of the Seven.”

Hwang Jung Eum’s agency maintains they are working towards an amicable resolution and that the woman made last-minute demands for a higher settlement.

This incident has garnered significant negative attention for Hwang Jung Eum, who has apologized for her mistake.
